The Brave Educator Project

Transforming Education through Care and Self-Regulation

The Brave Educator Project was born from both personal reckoning and professional revolution. As a former principal of an alternative school located inside a mental health hospital for children, I witnessed firsthand what happens when traditional education systems collide with deeply human needs. My students were navigating trauma, crisis, and institutional failure — yet were expected to thrive within systems never designed to serve them. It was there, in that deeply complex and emotionally raw setting, that I led a paradigm shift rooted in radical care, self-regulation, and values-driven leadership. That shift transformed not only outcomes for students, but the entire culture for staff as well.
But this work wasn’t just professional — it was personal. I had spent years advancing in my career, checking boxes, and pouring into others, all while quietly disconnecting from myself. I burned out not because I didn’t love education — but because I abandoned my own needs in the process of trying to serve everyone else.
The Brave Educator Project is my response to all of that. It’s a movement and a methodology for teachers who are ready to evolve — who want to stay in this profession but know they can’t do it the way they’ve been doing it. It’s for new teachers, teacher candidates, and seasoned educators alike who are searching for purpose, healing, and truth in how they teach and how they live.
At The Brave Educator Project, we teach that regulation is revolution — and brave educators build the future not by avoiding the hard stuff, but by grounding themselves so deeply in self-awareness and care that they can face anything that walks through their classroom door.
